    Dr. Neo Tapela, MD

    Biography

    Neo is a physician, epidemiologist, and healthcare leader passionate about improving health and wellbeing for all and transforming health systems around the world to better respond to the needs of patients. She has 14 years of multi-country experience in academic, government, and non-profit settings, including chronic disease health policy formulation and national program scale up, equity-driven transformation, quality improvement, consulting for WHO investment case development, and funded health services and outcomes research.

    She is currently Chief Scientific Officer at the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM), an international non-profit organization developing global measurement standards for measuring outcomes that matter most to patients and using data generated from using these standards to drive patient engagement, shared decision making, quality improvement, outcomes-based contracting and innovative research that leverages real world evidence.  

    Neo holds an MD and MPH from Harvard University and maintains appointments at the Division of Global Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, USA and Nuffield Department of Medicine at the University of Oxford, UK. Her work has been published in over 40 peer-reviewed publications, and her role as a global health innovator has been recognised through several awards including the Aspen Institute New Voices Fellowship.
