Dr. Anke Posthumus
Gynaecologist
Biography
Anke Posthumus (1986) trained at the medical school of Erasmus University Rotterdam and specialised in obstetrics and gynaecology at Erasmus MC and Albert Schweitzer Hospital in Dordrecht, the Netherlands. She holds a PhD degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam (2016), with a thesis on inequities in perinatal health. Since 2016 she has combined clinical training with postdoctoral research at Erasmus MC, and currently works as a Fellow in Perinatology and at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
Her research focuses on reducing inequity in perinatal care, the implementation of Patient Reported Outcome and Experience Measures (PROM/PREMs) in obstetrics, and patient-centred digital innovation such as telemonitoring in pregnancy. She developed and coordinates a broadly implemented e-learning program on social obstetrics for medical, midwifery and maternity-care students. Anke holds several ZonMw grants, including a Clinical Fellowship dedicated to embedding PROM/PREMs into routine obstetric care, and is a member of the Patient Communication Committee of the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (NVOG).
As a management team member of the Pregnadigit consortium, she works on the implementation and upscaling of telemonitoring for pregnant women who would otherwise require hospital admission, bridging digital innovation with health equity and the patient experience.
